I have used these over the years to keep my 5700 running. Update: An anonymous tipster wrote in saying 'Microtek has an open ftp () site that has newer versions (beta) than they post on their site. Thought I'd share the info, as the Microtek scanner saga with OS X is not so nice, and will any Mac owners ever buy a new Microtek scanner? I don't think so. There is a further driver update there for the X12 USL ScanMaker as well. You have to first manually uninstall all the other Microtek drivers, though.
In searching for an answer, I found this link on the Netherlands Microtek site, which has a link on it called Can't find my driver!. I have an X12 USL and have been unable to find an update more recent than version 7.11. So, follow these simple directions to get you Microtek scanner up. These may cause incompatibilities, instabilities, or even an OS X beach ball party. It seems a few extraneous applications and drivers are installed when using the current driver installation package. Yeah we all know they're not so great on OS X (an understatement, of course!). Microtek has not yet released Panther compatible software.
